On February 18, 1888, a group of women from the City of Schenectady formed an orphanage called "The Home for Destitute Children." A series of mergers resulted in the creation of Northeast Parent & Child Society on July 1, 1983. Their agency has guided more than 100,000 children, youth and families from 32 counties in New York's Capital Region, New York City and the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation through their journey into adulthood. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Pathways 2 Success program.
