In 1980, during his tenure as Archbishop of Cincinnati, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin created the Catholic Inner-city Schools Education Fund (CISE) to help combat poverty in Cincinnati's inner city neighborhoods. Today there are nearly 1,400 students receiving a quality education in the eight CISE elementary schools. In addition, there are over 200 CISE school graduates attending Catholic high schools with the help of the CISE High School Grant Program. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will provide aid to CISE Schools.
