Bethany House Services (BHS) is the largest family homelessness service provider in the Greater Cincinnati region since taking over Mercy-St. John’s homeless services in January 2015. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Reducing Trauma of Homelessness for Children initiative.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association (BBBS) of Cincinnati promotes the development of youth through quality mentoring relationships. They help children reach their potential by providing them with caring, adult role models who guide them in making positive choices about their future. Based in Clermont County, Child Focus aims to serve the needs of children through quality programming that meets present and emerging needs. Established nearly 40 years ago, annually the organization directly serves 5,000 children and youth from
infants to young adults and a total of 20,000 people when inclusive of families served as well as community trainings provided. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support Building an Inclusive Playground for Children with Special Needs.
The Children's Law Center was created in 1989 with the assistance of Brighton Center, Inc. in Newport, Kentucky. Throughout the twenty-three year history, the Center has become widely recognized across Kentucky, Ohio, and in some areas nationally for its work on juvenile justice, education and indigent reforms for juveniles. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support Holistic Legal Representation.
Annually CATS provides approximately 400 at risk juniors, overage underclassmen and seniors from 15 Cincinnati Public High Schools the opportunity to gain Elective or Fine Arts credit toward graduation through the use of a highly engaging hands on art curriculum. These students are at risk because of a credit deficit that cannot be made up during school hours; there is simply not enough time. A gift from Pfau Foundation will support the CATS High School Arts Program.
Founded in 1958 as Cincinnati Civic Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet was the first professional ballet company in Cincinnati. Going into its 48th season in 2011-2012, Cincinnati Ballet is committed to offering new works while keeping the historical repertoire vibrant, constantly delivering the highest caliber of professional dance through both cutting edge and classical choreography. Cincinnati Ballet also provides extensive educational and outreach programming to more than 12,000 area youths. Cincinnati Union Bethel (CUB) has been in operation an astonishing 187 years. Originally established as a settlement house, today CUB provides supportive services to low-income individuals, primarily women and children, through three main program areas: shelter and housing, early childhood education, and employment counseling. Annually, the organization accompanies 683 economically disadvantaged women and children as they work diligently to improve their lives. The Down Syndrome Association (DSAGC) was established in 1981 with a history of responding to the changing needs of individuals with Down syndrome. The DSAGC serves southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana. A gift from the Pfau Foundatin will support Project Possibilities.
Easter Seals TriState (ESTS) serves people with disabilities, at-risk youth preparing to transition from school to the workplace and adults moving from "welfare to work." The organization is a member of the National Easter Seals, Inc. ESTS is a certified Medicaid provider and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support ESGC Disability Employment Services.
In 2009 EDGE Teen Center was formed to address the many challenges facing local teens, such as substance abuse, violence, pregnancy, self-mutilation, eating disorders, and suicide. Since its inception, EDGE has grown from serving 30 teenagers annually, to serving over 100 teens every day, and 700 unduplicated teens each year, making EDGE one of the largest teen centers in Ohio. A gift from Pfau Foundation will support EDGE Teen Center’s After School Program.
Envision provides a variety of services to support individuals with disabilities and has been a trusted resource for families for over 50 years. They serve more than 450 children and adults each year. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Catch Every Child (CEC) program.
Equinox, Inc., a not-for-profit social services agency in Albany, New York, was founded in 1969 by volunteers to provide assistance to young people in crisis who had become alienated from family, community and traditional social services. FamiliesFORWARD is a resource center/neighborhood school-based program in which social workers join with parents, students, teachers and community members to make sure that all involved in the life of the child are working collaboratively. Girl Scouts of Western Ohio serves approximately 55,000 girls in a 32-county area in western Ohio and southeast Indiana. More than 15,000 trained adult volunteers work to provide services and deliver the program to girls. Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is one of more than 100 councils that make up Girl Scouts of the USA - the largest voluntary organization for girls in the world. G.L.A.D. (Giving Life A Dream) House is providing non-residential clinical and recreational services to at-risk children who are constantly experiencing transition, trauma, and crisis due to parental addiction. Services include prevention education; prevention alternative activities; diagnostic assessment; individual, family, and group therapy; community psychiatric supportive treatment group; and case management. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Enhancement of Champs program.
Established in 2004 as the result of the merger of two well-respected mental health organizations, Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS) is the largest and one of the most comprehensive mental health agencies in Hamilton County. GCBHS has held the space for hope when their clients and their clients’ family members may have run out of it. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support GCBHS School-Based Services.
The mission of Hibiscus Children’s Center is to provide safety for abused, abandoned and neglected children through prevention programs, residential programs, shelter programs, and recovery programs. Every month, children and families participate in a variety of Hibiscus Children’s Center programs that prevent child abuse and neglect, and help children recover and rebuild their lives. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Career Pathways to Independence program.
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cincinnati (IHNGC) began on October 26, 1991, with a Day Center located in Lower Price Hill, and eight congregations who opened up the doors of their churches and synagogues to homeless families. Since 1991, the program has grown to include 27 host congregations and 63 support congregations representing people of Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Unitarian faiths. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Enriching The Lives of Children in Emergency Shelter initiative.
Since 1937, Camp Joy has been providing outdoor experiential programs for inner-city children from the Cincinnati area. In 1959, a 315-acre property in Clarksville, Ohio was purchased to provide a permanent location. Programs have been expanded to include outdoor education programs for schools and leadership programs for all ages. The camp experience has grown to serve those with a variety of challenges including economic, medical, special needs, at risk, and foster children. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Fostering Success program.
The Madisonville Education and Assistance Center links community resources to disadvantaged individuals and families in Madisonville. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Stabilizing Madisonville Families initiative.
May-We-Help was founded in 2009 and its' first employee was hired in 2010. They ended 2011 with 34 active volunteers and 36 completed assistance device projects. The organization currently has a 6-member board of directors that are overseeing the expansion and impact of the original mission statement, which is — "A nonprofit of skilled volunteers gathered together to create custom assistance devices and adaptations for individuals with disabilities at no cost to them." A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support general operations.
Melodic Connections currently provides music therapy services to individuals in Greater Cincinnati through five programs, fulfilling their mission of empowering special learners through low or no cost music therapy-based instruction. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country. NAMI is dedicated to the eradication of illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and anxiety disorders, and to improving the quality of life for persons of all ages who are affected by mental illness by providing support, education, and advocacy. New Life Furniture (NLF) has been in operation for more than a decade, providing gently used or newly built furniture for Tristate families leaving homelessness for stable housing. NLF is the region’s only furniture bank. Because of NLF, recently housed families have the beds, tables, chairs that turn a house into a home. Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission, Inc. (NKCAC) was established in 1966 as one of the original community action agencies organized nationwide through the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight the war on poverty. For more than 45 years, NKCAC has been addressing "the paradox of poverty in a land of plenty". The Sisters of Notre Dame (SND) is an international congregation of 2,000 women serving in eighteen countries. In 1874, SND's arrived in Covington, Kentucky and began teaching at Mother of God School on West 6th Street. Their mission is to serve people through education and other ministries, especially for women and children in urban schools, with the desire to promote the fullness of life for all. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support the Homework Plus program.
Ohio Valley Voices formed in 1999 by parents who knew that an oral education could give their deaf children opportunities that would not be available to them otherwise. In 2000, Ohio Valley Voices opened its doors to 12 students. Currently in their eleventh year, enrollment has more than tripled in size. Prevent Blindness is the nation's leading voluntary eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight. The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness (PBO) has been serving all 88 Ohio counties since 1957, providing direct services to more than 800,000 Ohioans annually and educating millions of consumers about what they can do to protect and preserve their precious gift of sight. The Southwest Ohio Chapter of Prevent Blindness is headquartered in Cincinnati and serves Hamilton, Brown, Butler, Warren and Clermont counties. ProKids is a non-profit agency dedicated to ensuring a safe, permanent, and nurturing home for every child. Children who have been abused and neglected are given a powerful voice by ProKids' volunteer CASAs - Court Appointed Special Advocates - volunteers whose role is to serve the best interests of children who are the subjects of child protection services in Hamilton County Juvenile Court. Redwood was founded in 1953 by parents as United Cerebral Palsy of Northern Kentucky. Today, Redwood offers the most comprehensive range of disability services in Greater Cincinnati, serving about 700 people through over 365,000 hours of service each year. Development of St. Aloysius began in 1832 by Father John Martin Henni and was officially established in 1837 to aid the children left homeless as a result of a cholera epidemic. Today, they are an independent,non-denominational social service agency assisting children displaying cognitive, behavioral, and emotional health problems. For over 140 years, St. Joseph Home has served the fragile and vulnerable among us. Initially, their focus was on unwed pregnant mothers and their infants. More recently though, St. Joseph Home completely shifted their resources toward profoundly mentally and physically disabled individuals and their families. Strategies to End Homelessness (STEH) (formerly Cincinnati-Hamilton County Continuum of Care for the Homeless) was established in 2007 in response to federal regulations requiring separate nonprofit organization to be formed to receive and coordinate emergency, transitional and permanent supportive housing services. Today, STEH serves as the intermediary organization locally, ensuring that there is a coordinated system of care for the homeless in Cincinnati and Hamilton County. A gift from Pfau Foundation will support KEYS to a Future without Youth Homelessness.

Welcome House of Northern Kentucky, Inc. was founded in 1982 to serve the economically disadvantaged citizens of Northern Kentucky. The creation of Welcome House was a direct response to the significant increase in homelessness of single-parent families, often headed by women, during the early 1980s. Wildwood Programs Inc., the Learning Disabilities Association of the Capital Region, is a private, non-profit human service organization, founded in 1967, that provides an array of services to individuals with disabilities. Wildwood has grown into a strong and well-respected agency in the community. They now annually serve over 1300 individuals from a thirteen county region in the Capital Region of New York State. A gift from the Pfau Foundation will support School-Age Based Self-Advocacy for Student with Disabilities.
The YWCA, the world's largest women's organization, is an international movement with more than 25 million members in 122 countries, including 2.6 million members and participants in 300 local associations in the United States. The YWCA of Greater Cincinnati, the fifth association in the United States, was founded in 1868.
